Three Cliffs and Pennard Castle
Three Cliffs Bay is easily accessible via a footpath from Parkmill along side a stream, through a wood over a hill and into the valley beyond.
Walk along the stream between the hills dominated by the ruins of Pennard Castle, which you could climb up to if you are energetic. The castle's situation is both dramatic and beautiful.
It is perched on the edge of the valley of the Pennard Pill, with a sheer drop below to the north and west. From it there is a sweeping view out towards Three Cliffs Bay, and across the valley to Penmaen Burrows. Carry on along the bottom of the valley over the boardwalk to the beach.
Even in its ruined state Pennard Castle is still imposing and yet pales into insignificance compared to the majesty of the Three Cliffs and the beach................. it is truly magnificent
...... and what a beach, with an arch to walk through the cliffs and a river to walk along or to wade until you reach the sea.....
On the beach there are many interesting shells to find including large hermit shells, plenty of cockles, and, surprisingly, quite a few live scollops.
Horses and their riders enjoy a good gallop on the beach and the cliffs themselves are popular with climbers.
