Whitford Burrows and Llanrhidian Marsh

On the eastern slope of Llanmadoc Hill, a little west of Cheriton, is The Bulwark, a large National Trust-owned Iron Age earthwork fortification an example of a large defended enclosure.

Its prominently sited earthworks consist of well-preserved banks and ditches.

Below this is Whiteford sands and peninsula, a unique mix of woodland, pills, acres of quiet sandy beaches and dunes stretching from Cheriton Pill to the east, around the point past Whiteford Lighthouse, one of the few cast iron lighthouse in the U.K.

Fishing on the West of Whitford sands is excellent but fishing on the East side should be avoided as there are dangers here.
